This was a beautiful wedding. This was also a very very very wet beautiful wedding.
Quite possibly the rainiest stormiest soggiest wedding I’ve ever captured. I arrived in the Nelson Lakes Area on a beautiful sunny afternoon, to be told the following day a tropical cyclone was coming our way. Weather. One thing you can’t control at weddings. But it’s also one thing we and our couples thrive on embracing.
Kate and Alex had a plan to head down Lake Rotoiti, with their wedding party, on a small semi uncovered boat and then hike up through a forest to a waterfall. And yes in the rain wearing extraordinarily inappropriate clothing and shoes. I did half heartedly advise them against this, but deep down couldn’t wait to see what would unfold if they did.
Embraced it they did.

Absolutely Amazing !!
We can’t speak highly enough of Jim Pollard and his wonderful wife Vicky… Vicky dealt with all of our initial queries and the finer the details of the where when and how logistics. She was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and there were many many emails back and forth. So patient. She went to such great lengths to make sure we were totally happy and satisfied with everything. Her organizational skills are absolutely first class. Then there’s Jim. Wow!! Not only an amazing photographer, but a genuinely lovely guy. He was fantastic, funny, chatty, talented and a joy to have as a part of our special day. Paul and I hate being in front of a camera but he made it so very easy. Jim’s work is just magical, he has this wonderful ability of capturing all of those special little moments between people.
His photographs are not only capturing special little moments but creating beautiful pieces of artwork in themselves. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Jim and Vicky. We’re so glad we found you and that you were part of our special day. You’ve created such beautiful memories for us, we love you guys.
